Learning tango happens in a variety of experiences;
group classes, practicas, the social dance floor (called a milonga), as well as private lessons with teachers.
I design group classes for all levels (new, improving, experienced), introducing new ideas and techniques.
Prácticas are for integrating this knowledge!
Milongas are for playing with the music and our confident moves, together.
To refine and custom-adjust this learning for your specific dancing journey right now, book a private lesson by emailing elly@ellyfernandez.com.
Pricing options include a sliding scales for 1 hr, 2 hr, seasonal packages (4, 8, 12hrs for 1-3 months). Please inquire about financial support if you need!
Workshops
All of Elly's programs are designed to support you turning a constraint into a feature.
→ What this means:
If you are a new or experienced dancer
who feels held back by a limited vocabulary
or not-yet-mastered skill,
these learning environments
will help you experiment
with the worlds of possibility
in what you DO already know.
Some say this dance is hard
(who does that really serve?)...
what if the way we explored it was clear,
with a simple structure of choice,
and with movement that feels free to our bodies?
Bring your curiosity, Elly will bring the challenges,
& let's wonder through this tango world together!
⭐Classes are designed for ALL dancers who are improving AND beginning their tango experience
(unless marketed otherwise by event organizers)
💛No partner needed.
🌈All gender identities and expressions are welcome.
💞Role switching is encouraged - we express what role we are curious to explore and honor a learner's choice to dance one or both roles.
Private Lessons
MENU OF CURIOSITIES/CHALLENGES:
Many whom I work with bring specific goals they are working toward.
Some dancers aren't sure - if that's you, here's a menu that might help:
-- Embrace
-- Walking
-- Improvisation/dialogue
-- technique/stability
-- expression (musicality in tango, vals, milonga, melodic/rhythmic)
-- role specific exploration
-- specific vocabulary (ex: crosses, ochos, sacadas, turns, etc)

"Elly did a fantastic job preparing us for our first dance as husband and wife. She took a genuine interest into what makes us groove together and used that as a foundation for our dance. The look on everyone's faces on our wedding day when we tore up the dance floor will always be remembered!" -- Dani & Rob
