Learn Tango

I love hearing my students' goals and creating a learning plan and process uniquely designed for those personal goals! ......Helping to meet community needs and readiness.

Queer Tango Workshops

We like learning tango and being able to immediately apply it to the real tango world context! Our workshops are designed for all levels.

--Finding Your Tango Confidence

--Super Cozy Embraces

--Introduction to Open Role Tango

--Basic Posture, Steps, & Musicality....

*role switching is encouraged - we practice consent in role switching and honor a student’s choice to dance one or both roles.

Boundaries & Connection Workshops - collaboration with Marcelo Gutierrez

We love to geek out about the brain and nervous system. The learning process can be exciting, slow, compelling, and overwhelming! Learning how the brain and nervous system serves us, and how to override it when it's protecting us, helps our students move from "oh, I know I don't get this yet" to "omg! Check out this new tool in my toolbelt of tango skills!" Our teaching ideology is rooted in facilitating a shared responsibility as we embrace change in order to create a mutually enjoyable connection.

Our workshops center the following social and emotional life skills:
-- self-regulation/grounding techniques to create a safe and social state

-- discern your limits & identify your boundaries

-- explore your voice, choice, and agency

-- engage in negotiation to seek agreements

Guided Practica

The practica will be shaped by the shared values of open role dancing, feedback/interpersonal communication, floorcraft, and practicing concepts (rather than figures).

Participants will be introduced to practical communication tools that create supportive & technical feedback loops in real time while social dancing. The middle of the dance floor will be reserved for a limited number of couples per rotation to receive expert support from the practica guides (Melina & Elly). In this way, participants will experience a celebratory and affirming space to explore their dance identity, cultivate empathy, and build a more welcoming tango world together.

This is a space for:

* Dancers to practice dancing both roles regardless of heteronormative gender roles

* Women, trans men, and non-binary dancers to use their voice

* Dancers who identify and are socialized as men to listen and amplify the feedback of women and non-binary dancers

* Dancers who identify and are socialized as men to experience a brave space to dance with men
